My Name’s Lyman tells the story of a man named Lyman and how the choices he makes impact his Destiny, as well as the Destinies of those around him. Each chapter represents a different Destiny of Lyman Liri based on a choice he makes at a universal point in time. It is always told from the perspective of someone who knew him. When Lyman chooses one direction over another, the consequences are often dramatic. In some scenarios he’s famous, and in others he sleeps on the streets. But one thing is a constant: Lyman, the man, never changes. Through Lyman, we learn that even though our choices may alter our Destiny, it doesn’t change who we really are. In every circumstance, the hero lies within us. We need only let him rise.
These are the many lives of Lyman Liri, as dictated by his choices. Sometimes he's famous, sometime he's a bum on the streets. But Lyman, the man, remains the same: a Hero.
It is a catharsis. Much of my work is auto-biographical in theory.
I am currently recording the audiobooks for my fiction pieces listed here.
I met Lyman in a parking lot one day. As for my children's book, it is an homage to my grandfather.
I have written several non-fiction theatre arts books, published by Smith & Kraus. My fiction pieces are self-published.
I researched for about a year for My Name's Lyman. I had to become knowledgeable about the Viet Nam war and the history of drug addiction in veterans.
I've learned it's important to do more than deliver facts or witty one-liners, there are to be a powerful arc--one that keeps the reader compelled.
The auto-biographical nature of the book caused for a lot of emotion and purging. At times, it was painful. And other times, it was healing.
When people tell me that the book should be made into a movie.
Definitely a plan! I write an outline, then build on the structure.
I am very active on Facebook and have a nice little following, as well as a wonderful network of fellow authors I stay in contact with.
Lighten up! Trust more. Don't be so stubborn.
Anne of Green Gables for both genres.
